Casio AL-2000 Calculator

The Casio AL-2000 is a follow-on to the AL-1000 and was probably introduced in 1969.

It is a first-second generation hybrid, using discrete diode transistor logic together with SSI and MSI ICs. The ICs allow additional logic to be employed in order to address some of the AL-1000’s deficiencies:

  • Overflow Detection will (in most cases) prevent further operation if there is overflow from the most-significant digits
  • Floating Decimal allows better use of the available precision

The AL-2000 is programmable in the same rudimentary manner as the AL-1000. Two 28-step program stores are now available and two modes may be selected for memory register operation in programs - store/recall or accumulate.
